About
conversational-ai.io is an independent field guide for developers building conversational AI systems.
The project exists because the conversational AI stack is becoming broader than a single product category. A modern assistant might combine chat, realtime voice, telephony, retrieval, tools, evaluation, safety policy, and multimodal context. The hard part is rarely one API call. The hard part is choosing the right architecture and knowing what to measure.
What We Publish
- Deep guides for chat, voice, realtime, telephony, and multimodal agents.
- Static benchmark directories for platforms, APIs, frameworks, and eval tools.
- Methodology notes that explain what should be measured before scores are trusted.
- Links to the open-source Conversational AI roadmap.
Benchmark Stance
The benchmark pages are intentionally conservative in V1. They compare metadata, tradeoffs, and evaluation dimensions. They do not publish synthetic scores.
Measured scores should come only with public methodology, repeatable scenarios, and clear distinction between observed data and editorial judgment.
Principles
- Be vendor-neutral.
- Prefer official docs, reproducible examples, and open-source projects.
- Label commercial influence when it matters.
- Separate curated directories from measured benchmarks.
- Optimize for builders moving from zero to production.
